Could be missing something here, but you said you put N on what you stripped. So what did you do on the other. We tried striptilling last year and didn't work at all. Got totally away from it this year and crops look great. With our soils and wet springs we have around here, just doesn't work. At least we tried.
Last fall we disked all the corn stalks once and hit it with the field cultivator this spring. Even though it was wet, much better conditions planting into tilled ground this year then stripped last.
