I did this same thing several years ago using a 6 row 30 inch and ended up with a 9 row 19 inch planter. The center unit is right behind the transmission and all I did for it was make the 4 parrell linkage arms long enough to clear the transmission. You could do the same thing with everyother unit so the the boxes wouldn't rub on eachother. I had to put the life wheels ahead of the main beam and the makes the planter butt heavy but it works very well for me.I do have pictures around here someplace if you would like to see how mine turned out.
