Subject: RE: Thank you guys

There is not anyhthing special about the MoJoRTK radio that makes it go over hills and through tree lines, it is simply a MaxStream 900mhz radio. I have had several reports of the same as Tim in SWMN has reported by operators when operating withing a mile or so of the base.

Keep in mind that the signal is similar to the beam on a flashlight, some amount of light will get through a tree line and some amount of light can bounce off certain objects but, the light will not go over the hill, around the silo, or through the side of the barn. If a very small amount of signal does reach the tractor from the base through what ever means you will still be able to operate with the RTK signal.

As to Mike's question, a repeater radio can solve many issues as was describe in another post. Even if you are going to be operating close the base but, feel you may have problems at times getting line of site, a repeater placed properly will assure good signal strength at all times. The best location for a repeater would be well off a direct line between the base and rover no matter if you dealing with 2 miles or 10 miles. When using the repeater radio the tractor now has two points in which to achieve that line of site condition we talk about. Leica has elected to use an off the shelf radio from Maxstream that can be purchased from any Maxstream dealer approx cost is $500.00. With the cost of the repeater at this level making sure you have adequate signal in all the area you farm becomes cost effective.

PS: Leica will support the setup of the radio to work with the MoJoRTK just in case anyone ask!!
