That's pretty much allways been my understanding too is that you need to add the fert first. Here in my neighborhood, hillsboro oregon, we also add a conditioner called "quest" before the concentrate. I guess water ph is pretty important for some chemicals. And, just for extra measure, since there are so many different formulas of glyphosate out there, we add a surfactant from Agspray called "WA-100". Course usually we use the WA-100 instead of ams as our weather and climate conditions usually dont "harden off" the weeds to the point that we need the ams. But, sometimes in an odd year it can, and we do have to add the sulphate.
