| We have some hard decisions to make this winter. Do we beef up FODM to deal with guidance line patterns, soil test locations, etc, etc... Or do we say that the ISO framework is mature enough that we need to start FODM2 as a way to provide desktop support more directed at the ISO framework, but retain the ability to support non-ISO formats during the transition. If it is time for FODM2, I think it needs to be an open source effort, but we would kick in a lot of our new .Net FieldOps code to get it started. We've learned a lot doing FODM, and it carries a lot of baggage in order to ensure compatibility with older applications. But at some time, you have to look at building a new shop, instead of continually remodelling the old one. |
