Subject: Durapride valve in Brower waterer trouble

nc ks
I am having trouble adjusting the Durapride valve in a new Brower heated waterer. The main nut that holds the valve together has to be loosened to allow any water to flow. We have adjusted those intermeshing teeth on the two arms that push the valve closed so they are as open as possible but the valve is still completely shut off until we loosen the big nut that holds the valve together. Anybody else have trouble with one of these?
