Subject: strange soil test results

Edgeley, ND
I have been doing my own soil testing for about 10 years now with a hand probe and getting fairly consistent numbers. I send the samples to midwest labs. This year was different however when I looked at the ph numbers. I have a range of 6.2 to 6.9 usually but this year I have some 7.7 to 7.9 numbers in a couple fields. I dont GPS so am not in the same spots from year to year and know that ph can differ depending on where you sample but this makes me question my test results when I see that. My question is "Can a person have something on your hands that can throw off this test that much if you cruble the samples with bare hands?" Or could something else be happening that I am missing? I use only plastic sample pails and the sample bags from the lab
