W Texas | Do you plan to harvest for grain?
You prolly have a huge amount of nitrogen left over from failed summer crops?
If it is jointed, it will be frost sensitive and could winter-kill. If you want grain, I would cut it back and hay it ASAP (if it is boot high, it is prollly jointed). Hay market must be pretty good right now?
Cutting it just before a rain won't hurt the quality as much as cutting it, getting it nearly dry, and then getting a rain, BTW. | |
