We call most of our soil sandy loam but I would guess most of you guys would just call it sand, mostly 1-2%OM, CEC's 3-5. We can grow excellent crops but we need to split apply nutrients and have very timely water as we are nearly always 1 week away from a drought. I chuckle when I look at the FIRST trials with 1" of rain in July and still grow 200+ corn, we just can't relate to that. I wouldn't know what to do if our dryland corn did not roll in the summer.
