A drive on 'old 66' across OK, will take you through 5 diverse ecosystems.....east to west: typical eastern hardwood timbered hills, eastern crosstimbers, western crosstimbers, tallgrass prairie, and shortgrass prairie.....various early land uplifts, alluvial plains, and old lake beds. I don't think there is another state with so much ecosystem diversity over an 8 hr drive....of course I may be a bit biased....each ecosystem posess beauty in their own way...been driving a similar route each yr since 96.
