What is the avg life span of one?
The one in the house I own now was bought in 1998....14 years ago.
I have been looking at an outside mounted tankless hot water heater, and just wondering when I should bite the bullet

Please explain what you mean by outside mounted tankless water heater.

When I was in the army in Germany in the early 1960's and my wife was with me and we had an apartment it had a tankless heater in the basement. We fell in love with it.

When I found out about one here I got it. I am on my second one and the first one was purchased in 1978. With out going back in to some old records I do not have any idea how long the first one lasted.

My son and my nephew each have one and none of us would go back to a tank type heater.

I think life of a tank type heater and maybe a tankless also depends on the water that is being heated.
