Theodore, Saskatchewan | Canada’s Weekly Soybean Crush Hits Record
Canada's weekly soybean crush reached the highest weekly level of the past five years that reports are available at 46,241 tonnes for the week ending Nov. 28, up 35.3% from the previous week, reports COPA.
The 2012/13 crop year to date total crush is 503,336 tonnes versus the prior year's 435,090. Crush capacity utilization was 70.3% last week (61.2% last year) and 82% year-to-date.
Tight supplies of canola in Western Canada and unattractive canola crush margins likely caused some processors in eastern Canada to switch over to soybeans, said Agriculture Canada oilseed analyst Chris Beckman. Using his calculations, Beckman estimated that soy crush margins are averaging around $100/t. | |
