| It depends on where one is located in Western Bahia. There are soils here of 90% sand and other soils of 50% sand. In places with say 40% clay and 60% sand, the corn is very good. Here is a link to the Bahia Foundation's corn research so you can see that the dryland yields are excellent. The top corn in 2009/10 made 185 sacks/hectare. Under irrigation, it would just be that much better.
