If you have a landlord who keeps the lease decent, paying an extra $20-30-40 an acre when you have a good year is encouragement for them to stick with you and keep the rates decent. You think you are staying away from break even by keeping prices high. The way things are headed, all of the profit will be bid out of it in two years anyhow and then you have MUCH higher risks because your cost to raise the crop are now 2-3x as much. I'd rather see some of the idiots who think they need to farm half the country get burned on the way there. |
