I have to disagree with you about the subsoil being completely dry.

I have been digging some tile in the last few days and there is moisture 3 feet down consistently and we have not had nearly as much rain as you guys have had over your way this fall. I even saw some water seep in the trench overnight which was surprising. I am digging the tile in for poorly drained areas but everywhere I have moved dirt there is good moisture.

I will however agree that it is unusually dry for this time of year but a few good soaking rains or a good snow will go a long way this time of year.

I am with you in hoping the pattern changes soon though.
