Why no universal health care

Our system is based upon compulsory health insurance for employees and -meanwhile- most self employed persons. Farmers were in the statutory system since the 1960ies.

Yes I pay close to 500 Euros a month but I would pay less if I earned less. And I am  assured that I will not get bankrupt in case a family member needs surgery or hospital treatment. Tax money is involved "only" for people living on welfare. 

Health care costs a lot of money but what is the alternative? You will never get the people to pay who have no money at all for whatever reason - "You can´t grab in a bare man´s pocket", that´s a saying in german :-). And no civilised society can leave those people alone if help is needed. The real loosers would be those who are too reputable to demand something they know they are unable to pay for.
