I have always encouraged my kids to open and keep a savings acct. My local family owned bank, is now charging $5.00 per month if the balance drops below $500.00  This will hurt youngsters mowing grass and doing odd jobs. I was wondering how many other banks are doing this. The other bank I do business with has free checking, and no charges on savings.
