I think the earlier than usuall fall that gave guys more time on their hands is the reasoning for the mowing. That and the "azz- kissing" in order to keep landlords happy lol. I wouldn't be surprised if some 4X4 farmers ( ones that plant 4 weeks in the spring and harvest 4 weeks in the fall) get a moldboard plow and start mold boarding lol. Nah, just kidding- they wouldn't know how to make a furrow lol. I used to take pride in how straight I could plow and fill dead furrows in.
