With as dry as it is here, I wouldnt even consider giving $2500 for a young cow, I wouldnt even give that for a young pair. Insane, IMO. Good luck, maybe the weather will turn out for the best and you will look like a quenius, but if stays dry here, you would be drylotting cows most of the summer here.
