Not likely but certainly possible. Sure, go at an angle, no sense taking any chance when the solution is so easy.

Do you see "burned" corn most springs when you look diagonally at the seedlings? I've seen it 3 or 4 times in 35 years, so I certainly wouldn't call it likely. But diagonal reduces the damage in the unlikely event everything favors significant burn.

The other thing that helps in apply it DEEP. I used to see more burn when I barely had enough power to pull the ammonia bar and cheated a bit on the depth. Now I have way more power and have kept the size of the toolbar a bit smaller compared to HP and really sock it in. Way less chance of burning seedlings.
