NW Central Ohio | My local Rural King asked me for my SSN or EIN in order for me to claim the agricultural sales tax exemption in the State of Ohio. I told them there was no way I was giving them my SSN or EIN, and the state didn't require it for the exemption. They then took my name and gave me the exemption anyways. I came home...and wrote a letter to the editor of our local newspaper about what they were doing...and that nobody had to give them their information. The next time I was in the store...and asked for the exemption, they asked if I was in their data base. I said I didn't know so they looked me up by name. They said they would need my phone number to put me in their data base...which Lowe's, and Tractor Supply already use. I had no problem with that...and now am listed in their data base. Kinda nice being able to push back when you know you're right. | |
