nw/nc iowa on the banks of West Buttrick Creek.. | Anything that stood this year was a winner. I am unhappy with the seed corn industry that seems to throw away standability for 1 bushel of extra yield. We have had about 4 years of down corn in last 10 in our area. In my case I can forgiven a bushel or two yield lose but never forget a thousand acres of flat corn.
Talked about varieties for next year at coffee, going to stay with what I had, I have lost more to the hot new variety than by staying with an old tried and true, plus old number is cheaper. Several times the new hot number was not in the next years catalog. |
