Brazilton KS | The wheel center has a tapered edge. The wedges are tapered. When you tighten the bolt, the wedge is pulled in, effectively making the center larger in diameter and making it tight on the rim. If you tighten the first bolt all the way down, that wedge will be pulled all the way up and the one on the opposite side will barely be able to pull in. This produces an out-of-round condition. As said above, you can make them run as true as you want to. Just jack it up and roll it, and the bolt on the "high" side needs to be loosened and the one opposite it tightened to bring it into round. | |
