Subject: RE: Snap ring on JD 7010 Series PTO shaft

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

My first thought, was to get a small 90 degree seal pick and push it against one side(trying to get underneath) while a second person, uses a long screwdriver and taps on the opposite end of the broken snap ring, to push it up onto the seal pick(acting like a wedge)

Once that got done, then I like Skipper's idea, of a quick heating from a torch, at snap ring halfway point, then bend with 90 degree seal pick, when red hot.

My second idea, was using thin copper sheet/plates(as insulation), and two sticks of welding rod and weld on new tangs(tangs would be the welding rods themselves) Just shut off welder after tacking. [Probably harder to perform, than just thinking about it].
