haskell county, ks
i would advice you fellas that are considering putting up the 1/2 mile long pivots to do some research and talk to people in the heavily irrigated areas about them before you start making decisions. we have 1 and have several in our area and they are one big piece of equipment to keep going. not saying they don't work but they take a lot more to keep going because of the extra weight, getting out of line easier and windshield wiping is not as good as going round and round. just the time it take to move from one side of the field to the other takes time. i know you guys are not in the same critical time for running pivot as we are out west so maybe not as big a deal just do some homework. remember if pivot gets middle tower stuck how much corn you drive over with tractor to pull it out. just wanting to bring up things to consider.
