Michigan - Saginaw County
Just an aside:
The Russians do not agree that we are burning dino poop.
Some of their top research guys believe that oil is formed deep underground by natural processes and is nigh inexhaustible. Remember that earth formed in a collapsing cloud of gasses and asteroids. The asteroids are the key to their claims.
We know that some asteroids contain significant amounts of hydrocarbons (and many are water and many are rock, which is how we became a rocky water planet) So, the deep inner parts of the mantle are seeded/loaded with these hydrocarbons that under heat and pressure polymerize and turn into oil (long chain hydrocarbons). They believe that we have only tapped the surface oil (the low hanging fruit so to speak) and that deep oil remains to be taken once the surface oil runs low and the value of oil rises to hundreds or thousands of dollars a barrel making it economical to develop the deep drilling technology.
