I'll reply about the support.  I haven't seen any change in support since Trimble acquired it.  Other than getting an invoice from Trimble, you wouldn't know anything changed.

You can simply update your software for about $300 total and be on the current version.  You won't need to purchase the modules again.  Your update also buys the phone support and future updates for the next year, including the mobile suite.  It's one of the best deals in software value available anywhere.  One annual update price of $300 for all of the modules you have purchased, not one price for each module.  Also the update price covers two licenses if you want to run it on two computers, i.e. laptop & mobile device.
