| Would probably take about .15 gallons/acre for the second trip. Depreciation/repairs/tires are a bigger expense. You don't need to get rich, but for the capital you will have tied up and the time that you will be putting in, you should make a decent return. Don't underestimate the time factor. You will need to pull the soil samples, get yield monitor data, and get the fertilizer applied all in about a 2-3 month window. You will be depending on others for certain parts of the equation. Add 50-100% to your time expectation for each extra person involved.
Are there no other coops in the area offering the service? I guess its been my experience that people go to the coop for convenience and for full service. Its the price conscious guys that you should be targeting. If you are going to provide these services, you need to have a lower fertilizer price than the coop.
