Subject: Should I seal this ear of corn?

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

My Nephew gave me my Christmas present early, he was so excited at the perfect present, and so am I, I love it. It has already cracked as it is curing out, should I add polyurethane or Thompson's Water seal, or some other sealant? I am thinking I might want to wait until it is cured, afraid if I seal it too quickly it might not cure properly. I like the looks of this ear of corn cut out of a log with a chainsaw without stain, but do want to protect it from losing the nice color it has naturally.

Any suggestions on how to care for this? I shall keep it in the house, so I am not worried about weather damage.
