Have about as many cows as you. We feed all of them with bale rings. We used to unroll the bales, but they wasted far more hay than the bale rings. Maybe a hay processor would be better, but you would have to feed them just the right amount each day, or else they will lay in the wasted hay. 90% of my hay is fed with the bale spear on my truck or bale bed on my brother's truck. Driving a tractor around to each pasture would be a lot more work. Also have a really old feeder wagon plan on feeding a little silage with. If you only fed with a feeder wagon, you would have to have lots of concrete bunks for 140 cows, plus you would have a mud hole where you feed them every time.

Pretty much all of my hay is brome grass. It is good enough quality that I don't need to supplement. I've tested some of the hay before and was over 10% protein. I will probably still feed with bale rings. I am more focused on not feeding hay if I don't have to.
