Protein tubs are bout the most expensive form of protein there is, they are convient, but you pay for that convience. Id grind the hay or cornstalks and mix with some distillers or feed a little corn with the hay. Like another said feed more alfalfa and wouldnt have to buy tubs. Could you not graze the cows on cornstalks longer then mid Dec if you dont calve till Mar? I would think you could graze till Feb then just feed till grass like Apr may time period. I start calving early Feb, and my cows will be on stalks till at least mid Jan if not just a tick longer, unless bad weather comes first.
