Subject: RE: How to Remove Small Trees from Field?

Floyd County, Iowa
I built a hydraulic puller for the loader on my 65hp auger tractor. It squeezes on the tree trunk.
On the little trees (up to 2") just squeeze and lift. On the bigger ones, squeeze, push ahead to pull roots loose, lift. They're available commercially from attachment vendors (do a google search), but I opted to make my own. IOWAMARK posted a picture of his a week or two ago on this site. Similar to the one I built.
I like how it pulls roots and all, and I don't have an excavator or skid loader, so it worked out. I pulled willows from creek banks and plums, mulberry trees, and boxelders from fencelines and CRP.
Piled them up, used pallet fork grapple attachment to carry away to burn pile.
