While we are on this topic, don't forget to have your kids think this PoA deal through once they have reached their majority. If you are married, your spouse has some rights under the law to help in these situations. If you are young, immortal, but still single ... and get hit by a car and suffer brain damage, you are legally in the same position as an widow(er) facing declining mental capacity, but likely without a plan.

Happened to a relative's neighbor's son, and all the good will and good faith in the world, even from the agreeable local judge, doesn't keep you (loving relatives but not legal PoA) from needing to petition the court for permission to do every little thing.
