I guess things are different where you are than in dry land wheat country in the third year of a drought that some of the old timers say is nearing dust bowl proportions. Not many here that feel they have too much money. I guess it's a Rockefeller thing.


The crazy thing is that here in SW MI $400.00 per acre on irrigated Sand is the Norm for Seed corn Land.. Go two Townships over and talk dry land corn ground and $70.00 per acre is more normal.. So Landlords not Familiar with farming didn't know it was not impossible to sustain your farming operation while paying $200.00 per acre on dry land.

I think Dry Land Rent on good heavy ground in IL or IN $200.00 per acre may be the norm.. Just as Wheat Land in OK may rent for $40.00 per acre.. you have to know your local market.

I wonder if the new Management will keep farming 43,000 acres and honor Stamps Lease contracts.. his Employees did seem to think so a week or two ago.
