Subject: RE: 100 acres of corn per day

We went from two 6 row machines to one 12 row machine and that was the smartest thing we ever did. Are fields range from 6 acres to only one with 200 but most are 25-50 acres. Opening up a field with a 12 row is a lot easier than a 6 row. We run two carts on the bigger fields but 1 can keep up on the 50 and under if the semi's are right by the field or in the field. But with cart he has to be on his toes. The nice thing about a 12 row when you have all those short rows they go off pretty fast with a 12 row. Our next head will be a folding 12 row. This fall we had to take the head of and on 28 times. I fuguered it out that it would save us a whole day if we had a folding 12 row. Remember with one combine you use half the fuel, need half the operators, half the number of heads, and half the equipment to maintain and clean.
