Subject: Radon levels in house

We recently tested our house (11 yrs old) for radon and the level came back at 22 pCi/ litre. The level is supposed to be less than 4 pCi/litre. Research has shown that exposure to high levels long term, may increase the chance of lung cancer.

I had 2 different guys out and both use a system where you core drill a hole in the basement cement and suck air out from below the slab and exhaust outside. It looks like most systems are 3" or 4" PVC with an inline fan at the top just under the roof in the attic. It appears this system is pretty effective at lowering levels in the home.

Anyone had this done to lower the levels of radon? Did you use 3" or 4" PVC? Any preference with an inside or outside system? What are your experiences?
