I don't watch TV either (can't stand the ads) and Microsoft has given up on Windows Home Server, so I am not sure a Home Theater PC makes much sense anymore. Consoles and TVs now do a lot of this stuff, like Netflix streaming.
I watch online a bit, but mostly download, rent and DVDs and Blu-rays. All my movies, TV series and music take up much more hard disk space than I care to manage, but having the boxes on shelves was worse to manage.
