I used the Tamron on the T2i that I had, and while it is definitely MUCH better than the 18-270 because of the aperture, it still isn't the Canon version. If I were you, I would use it as a step up. You could find a used one, and then if you think you should go all the way, step up to the Cadillac. I personally don't carry a telephoto anymore, but I have a large selection at school that I can check out. On the T2i, 70-200 is 112-320 actual use because of the 1.6x crop factor. I shot with it on both the T2i and the 7D. Feel free to email me if this thread gets lost, it's good.
