I have had nothing but bad luck with ready-made solar chargers, no matter the brand. I have had Parmak, Gallagher, and Zareba...all failed pretty quick. I put together a system with a small solar panel from Northern tool, about 16" square, don't remember how many watts it is rated for, and an in-expensive Patriot charger, and a regular car battery. This has worked well. The only problem is fighting the corrosion at the battery terminals, bought brass terminals and that is under control. I put it together a couple of years ago, keeps about 3/4 mile of 3 strand HT hot going along a county road. I did change the battery this spring, as it was an old batt. that was just sitting here, at the same time I replaced the terminals. I check it every couple of days with volt-meter, keeps it at about 5-6kvolts consisent.
