Chillicothe, Missouri
Here in North Missouri, We try to deep tilll with our DMI Colter Champ every few years.

We find it works well, and removes any hard pan.

I remember one year where other farmers were talking about how it was Sooo DRY!! this was in ....prolly April.
Hearing this multiple times while over at a hill farm, we decided to see how dry our firld was. We had ran our Krause Landsman over in the prior fall.
Warmed everything up, and made a martial pass, and returned. Our Field was Too Wet to cultivate!!
Where the 215 HP 4wd weight been upon the ground, before the disks, It have packed the ground, and was causing it to slab up, the other area tilled appeared great!

We Believe that fall tillage allows the winter moisture from the winter weather to easily asorbe into the ground.
