I too was going to suggest its more of a 'coolness' thing than it is practical, but figured I'd be laughed off the site for suggesting it. As Dave points out its not going to be any more useful than a fully stalked shotgun for home defense. Without a butt stock you've got no real way of aiming, so you will basically be firing from the hip, of it you are movie not you can try it one handed and break your wrist in the process LOL FWIW... I think the roots of the 'coolness' factor can be directly traced back to the terminator movies, Arnie carried a pistol grip sawed off shot gun.
