Subject: Re: Fertilizing Soybeans

Juneau, WI
At the very least I'd add some sulfur. I seen a 3 - 4 bu response to 75#s of MESZ and 75#s of K-mag this year compared to 50 MAP, 50 Gypsum, 50 AMS, and 25 KCL (blends had Similar P-K-S totals). This was blended in strip with Dawn Pluribus Units. I wish I had left a test strip without spring fertilizer. Both blends had 50 pounds of MAP and 100 pounds of KCL banded 4 inches deep the fall before. Next year I plan to do everything in the spring for beans something like 100 MESZ, 50 K-Mag, and 100 SOP. 12-40-60-38S-1Z . I'll make up for the slight draw on P and K when I go back to wheat.
