vt with a beater or chopper in them packs the ground here in So IL and creates a major hard pan. use them in the fall and if you have to use them in the spring make it only an emergency to get planted, then fix it with some form of deep tillage the following fall. I like the GP turbo max and CIH 330 turbo the best. Mcfarlane can let to much residue blow away if the ground is to dry when you work it. IMO
