ive seen most will turn while cranking but stop when started. sounds like a ring to frame clucth problem. check valve they are a updated valve (trash got into the older style). log the voltage to see if it drops. keep in mind if the clutches in the cvt are gone it will weld together with the clutch off position and still turn. then cvt will have to be pulled (not a fun job).
