Subject: RE: planting corn on radish rows

SE PA
Some have indeed planted into radish rows. however, if the radishes were precision planted, you might want to stay to the side of that row if there are still holes where the decayed tubers are. This possibility varies greatly depending on planting date and seeding rate. I don't think turbo tilling is a good idea for the sunn hemp and the cowpeas unless you up the seeding rate- those seeds should be planted into the soil. The turbo till will not get them all covered. Millet, radishes, and other small seeded covers would be more conducive with the turbo till but with that planting window- adding the sunn hemp and cowpeas would be great in helping to hold back pigweed. Why no till? You have to make a 2nd trip if you need MAP but i think it'd be well worth it in your situation.
