Subject: Detroit water heater

I have a 60 Detroit engine that the water jacket heater has failed. I can see the heater from either side, it is on the front of the engine, but getting at it to replace it seems impossible without major part removal. A pan heater like this seems to be a way easier path.

The heat from the oil should go up in the engine, right? I know a 1500 watt water heater would produce more heat, faster. But with 12 hour plug in, this should be adequate.

Aluminum pan so the magnetic doesn't work too good.
