You have lots of options in July. Pearl Millet instead of sorgum/sudan-it doesn't look like shattercane but is very similar in value i think. Radishes, cowpeas, sunn hemp, and triticale for starters. This gives a nice mix of summer annuals and then when frost hits the cool season covers will kick in. There are many other options that i'm sure other grazers on AgTalk would recommend...
