Driftless SW Wisconsin | That brings up the question about high corn prices - is $7+ corn due to ethanol or the drought?
Personally I think with more normal corn belt weather this year and crop corn prices would be on either side of $5.
Ethanol has done a lot of good. I don't think it is entirely the cause of high corn prices.
As discussed recently, the US feedlot system has grown up based on cheap, plentiful corn and calves.
Those conditions have both changed and are not likely to return.
The causes are a lot more complex than just ethanol.
