Subject: contract rye

nw pa
Local seed farm called today, wanted to know if we were interested in contracting five hundred acres of rye. He would pay 6.00 dollars a bushel and supply the intial seed. The amount of seed he supplies would be deducted next year at harvest bushel for bushel. The down side is a good yield on the type that he wants is between 35 and 40 bu. It is a small seeded variety. The plus side is it will grow where wheat won't do well. He is a reputable fellow that has made a lot of money harvesting the fencerows for small seeds, some of which bring 600.00 a pound. He often says farmers could make more money from the fence rows than the rest of the field. Anybody have any cardinal flower seed? 780.00 a pound
What do you think?????/
