Subject: RE: Cotton stalks

Owens Cross Roads, AL
I cut my stalks behind the picker about 8" tall when they are green. Then I notill wheat at 150-175 lbs per acre of treated seed with JD 1590 drill. I have no problems drilling after 2 bale plus cotton.

Last year when I had my accident, I wanted to plant the wheat but couldn't handle filling and everything. So I got a wild hair and cut my ground twice with a disk, had the fert and seeds spread with an air seeder and ran a Phoniex harrow to incorparate. I ended up with balled up cotton stalks, rough ground and thin wheat stands. The drilled wheat around me beat me by 10 bu. Wilson
